Tim Cook is Unhinged

Apple came out of left field and beat both on earnings and revenue in their earnings call on January 27th. EPS beat Wall Street’s expectations by 11.26%, where Revenue beat by 4.57%.

Innovation and creativity don’t even matter anymore, as Tim Cook is undoubtedly riding the coattails of the GOAT Steve Jobs. For years, Apple has, year after year, released the same hardware with “faster processors” and up’d specs (even though your hardware will be obsolete in very short order). You have to give credit where credit is due because they have impressively found a way to capture recurring revenue with ultimately zero innovation or product redesign. Also note that I’m only heavily critical of Apple because I had an awesome bout with them over summer ’21, but that’s a topic for a different discussion.

On to the financials

Apple secured a whopping $3.46 Billion in Q4 2021 vs. $2.87 Billion Q4 2020, which is just insane). Revenue from Apple product’s was up in every category (less iPad’s) for Q4 2021 vs. Q4 2020. Interesting enough, sales of the Mac were up 25% Q4 2021 vs Q4 2020. The only logical explanation for this is that Apple came to their senses and removed the god awful Touch Bar which served quite literally zero purpose. Net Sales were also up across the board for the same period (except in Japan). Apple also up’d their gross margin numbers (somehow despite inflation and supply chain fiascos).

It’s quite clear that Tim Cook does not care anymore and will do whatever it takes to be the best. It’s quite ironic that I am so critical of a company that I base my entire life around them (still have yet to secure an iPad yet, though). I’m sure the day will come where Apple loses their luster for the general population, it’s just a question of when. The blue texts are arguably the greatest creation of the 21st century. Book it, baby.
